Back to Ikea January 12, 2010

We headed back to Ikea yesterday (Monday) but this time the Edinburgh store to pick up a new chest of drawers for the spare bedroom (to store my <ahem> spare clothes) and a couple of bookcase type things for the baby’s room. We got there at 11am on the dot so DH got what was left of their cooked breakfast (for 99p :-O) and I had…a banana and an apple! Go me! Oh and a black coffee. I was very impressed with my willpower :-) .

Then we went to the shops, stopping off in Starbucks for lunch, where I had…a tuna and mixed bean salad (only 313 cals, not bad eh?) and another black coffee. DH had a mocha with a huge amount of whipped cream on top and a granola bar (he was still full after his cooked breakfast).

Later  I mashed up the leftover potato and salmon from Sunday’s dinner and made them into fishcakes. I had them with brocolli.

Then I did my EA Active 30 day challenge before collapsing on the sofa to watch Glee (which i’m loving!) with a can of pepsi max, an apple and a tangerine.

Today I took the toddler to toddlers after a breakfast of w/m toast with dairylea. The car park and pavements round there are still very very icy and I nearly fell a couple of times whilst holding her. Scary stuff! Again I resisted the temptation of the biscuit barrell (normally i’d have a couple of custard creams at least) and just had a black coffee instead.

Then we picked up the eldest who asked for a McDonald’s happy meal for lunch and since it’s been quite a few weeks since her last I agreed. So chicken nuggets for both girls with carrot sticks for the eldest (as per her request) and fries for the toddler. The eldest ate 2 nuggets and most of the carrot. The baby ate her 4 nuggets, plus 1 of her sisters (DH ate the other) and most of the fries. I refrained. Maybe I do have some willpower after all?!?

Instead I had some grilled lean bacon, an egg fried in fry light, some chopped mushroom fried in fry light, a grilled tomato and some beans. I was really hungry and wanted to fill myself up. It did the trick! Oh anc I had a cup of tea and a digestive biscuit (3 syns).

Then I made a SW cottage pie which turned out quite tasty actually. We had that with green beans, peas and sweetcorn. I had an apricot muller light yoghurt after. So so far today i’ve only used 3 syns.  I’m about to do the EA Active again then will probably have a cup of tea (or maybe a mug of Horlicks light since I have loads of syns left) and a digestive or 2. I’m feeling very positive about my eating and little bit of exercise just now. I’ll feel even better when all this ice goes and I can get out running again!

Why have I not updated since Monday?!? Possibly because I started the 30 day challenge on the EA Active on Tuesday and collapsed on the sofa afterwards…Oh but I have good news! I’ve lost 4 pounds!!! :-D Granted my start weight last week was 11st 6lbs (the heaviest i’ve EVER been when not pregnant) so i’m now 11st 2lbs. Another 14/21 pounds and I think my body will be bikini ready! ;-)

The rest of this post is going to be mind numbingly boring – not just for any poor soul who might start reading it, but for me to actually type it. I’m determined to keep my food diary updated though so here goes, 6 days worth of SW EE plan eating…

Tuesday 5th January

Breakfast – OJ (1 syn), Frusli bar (6 syns), tea with milk (from HEa)

Lunch – 2 slices w/m toast (HEb), scrambled egg and beans. Tea with milk (from HEa). 1 choc digestive (4 syns)

Snack – apple

Dinner – Large bowl home made lentil soup. Small portion pasta with 14g cheese grated on top (1/2 HEa)

Snack – Cup of tea with milk (from HEa), 1 choc digestive (4 syns), an apple and water after workout

Total syns – 15

Wednesday 6th January

Breakfast – OJ (1 syn), 2 slices w/m toast (HEb) with 2 dairylea light triangles (1/2 HEa), cup of tea (milk from HEa) and half a banana

Lunch – Large bowl lentil soup. Cup of tea (milk from HEa) and 2 choc digestives (8 syns)

Dinner – Pasta with tuna & 170g sachet Dolmio tomato & basil sauce (4.5 syns)

Snack – Diet irn bru and banana

Total syns – 13.5

Thursday 7th January

Breakfast – Banana, apple, 2 tangerines. OJ (1 syn)

Lunch – 2 slices w/m toast (HEb) with 2 dairylea light triangles (1/2 HEa). Tea (with milk from HEa). Small handful yoghurt raisins (approx 14g – 3.5 syns).

Dinner – 1 slice w/m toast (3 syns) with beans. Tea with milk (from HEa)

Total syns – 7.5

Friday 8th January

Breakfast – 2 slices w/m toast (HEb) with 2 dairylea light triangles (1/2 HEa). Cup of tea (with milk from HEa)

Lunch – Scrambled egg and beans. 2 tangerines. Diet irn bru.

Dinner – Pasta with tuna mayo (4 syns for 2 tablespoons of Helmanns light mayo)

Snack – Cup of tea with 2 digestives (6 syns)

Total syns – 10

Saturday 9th January

Breakfast – 2 slices of w/m toast (HEb) with butter (2 tsp – 4 syns) and jam (2 tsp – 1 syn). Cup of tea (with milk from HEa)

Lunch – 2 slices w/m bread (6 syns) used to make french toast with 14g cheese in middle (1/2 HEa).

Snack – 1/2 fruit scone (4 syns) with butter (1 tsp – 2 syns) and jam (1 tsp – 0.5 syns)

Dinner – SW Lamb Rogan Josh with boiled rice. Small glass medium white wine (6.5 syns)

Total syns – 24 (eeeeeek we’ll call this a flexible syns day shall we!)

Sunday 10th January

Breakfast – OJ (1 syn), 2 slices w/m toast (HEb) with 1 dairylea light triangle (1/4 HEa), cup of black coffee with sweetener, 2 tangerines

Lunch – Mushroom omelette, grilled bacon, tomatoes and beans. Cup of tea (milk from HEa), digestive biscuit (3 syns)

Snack – Apple, 1/4 banana.

Dinner – Salmon, mashed potato (small drop of milk from HEa), brocolli, green beans. Pepsi Max.

Total syns – 4 (although possibly going to have a cup of tea and a couple of digestives so maybe 10 in total…)

Phew glad that’s done! I’m noticing i’m having toast for breakfast far too often. I need to buy another box of porridge and then I can start having that instead.

 

A place for everything… January 4, 2010

and everything in it’s place.

My house is back in some semblance of order following a trip to Ikea where we purchased more toy storage – a unit which holds 6 deep boxes for the living room and 2 smaller units which hold 12 smaller boxes/trays for the kitchen. I have spent today putting away toys and sorting out colouring pens/pencils/crayons. I still have toys everywhere (where can you put an easel, a toddle truck, an ice-cream truck ride-on thing, a ball pool filled with a few hundred coloured balls etc etc) but the smaller things at least have somewhere to live now :-) . Oh did I mention that we already had a storage unit/library in our living room and a Merchants chest with 10 drawers in our hall all filled with toys? The sooner we get a bigger house (with a BIG playroom) the better! I want my lounge back!!!

Apart from that the diet is still going well. Still haven’t done Wii fit or EA active or been out for a run but that would crazy right now with the snow and ice covering everything. But I am sticking to the diet so that’s something! I’m going to keep a daily food diary here (for myself more than anyone – to stay on track and to look back on if I run out of meal/snack ideas).

Sunday 3rd January

Breakfast

Small glass of OJ (1 syn). Plain omelette with left over baked beans from yesterday. Cup of tea (with milk from HEa allowance).

Lunch

Homemade lentil soup. 2 slices of wholemeal bread (HEb) spread with 1 dairylea light triangle (1/4 of HEa) and filled with grilled lean bacon.

Snack

Cup of tea (milk from HEa). 3 rice cakes (3 syns) with marmite.

Dinner

Roast chicken, SW roast potatoes, carrots, green beans and brocolli. Some poultry gravy (2 syns).

Snack

Left over chicken. Muller light. Diet irn bru

Total syns for day – 6

Monday 4th January

Breakfast

Small glass OJ (1 syn). 2 slices w/m bread (HEb) with approx 19g cheddar cheese (3/4 HEa) to make cheese toastie. Cup of tea (with splash milk from leftover HEa).

Lunch

Pasta with tomato and mediteranean vegetable sauce (like ratatouille). Water.

Snack

Cup of tea (milk from HEa). 2 rice cakes (2 syns) with marmite.

Dinner

Baked potato with tuna mayonnaise (made with 2 tablespoons of Hellmann’s light mayo – 2 syns per tablespoon = 4 syns). Side salad of cherry tomatoes and yellow pepper. Diet irn bru. Toffee mullerlight yoghurt.

Snack

Cup of tea (milk from HEa). 2 McVitie’s chocolate digestives (4 syns each = 8 syns)

Total syns for day – 15 (maximum!)

Not too bad I don’t think! I was going to have just plain digestives with my tea but they’re 3 syns each :-O so I thought what the hell, why not have the choc ones (which I LOVE!) for an extra couple syns ;-) .

And i’m glad I did! They were delicious :-D .

 

1st day done and dusted January 2, 2010

I didn’t do any exercise today (although I did play a rather energetic game of “Boo” and “Hide and Seek” with my girls ;-) and some Wii tennis and bowling with the eldest whilst the baby napped so not totally inactive either).

Diet wise though I have been FABULOUS! If I do say so myself!

Breakfast – Small glass of fresh orange – 1 syn and an apple

Lunch – Large bowl of home made lentil soup – all free

Snack – 3 rice cakes with 2 dairylea light triangles (half HEa) – 3 syns for rice cakes – they’re only 28 cals each!

Dinner – Jacket potato with baked beans – all free

Evening snack – 3 rice cakes with marmite – 3 syns and a Frusli cereal bar (I needed something a bit sweet) – 6 syns

Drinks – tea with milk from allowance (1/2 HEa) and diet irn bru

So although I managed to use 13 of my 15 (maximum!) daily syns allowance i’m not beating myself up about it because I didn’t have much for breakfast or lunch. I also didn’t have my HEb as the cupboards are pretty bare just now. I will do a “big shop” tomorrow and then I will have wholemeal bread and more SW friendly snacks!

I got my hubby to take a pic of me last night for my outfit shot but haven’t gotten around to putting it on the puter yet so will upload it hopefully tomorrow. No outfit shot today as i’ve had a pyjama day. Darling Husband has been on his annual “Jolly boy’s outing” since lunchtime and it started snowing here again pretty heavily so the girls and I stayed in all day and didn’t bother getting dressed.

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life… January 1, 2010

…oh I so hope it is!

How many people have started a blog today I wonder? Thousands? Tens of thousands? More? And how many of those will be about New Year’s resolutions/weight loss/exercise? 98%?  More?

So yeah I thought i’d be really different ;-) and combine my weight loss blog with the odd picture of “what i’m wearing”. I have far too many clothes. I LOVE clothes. And I have far too many clothes that either don’t fit or look really bad as i’m far too lumpy and bumpy at the moment :-( I have resolved not to buy any more clothes and instead lose weight <ahem> so that I can actually wear the lovely clothes I have. And I tend to wear the same things All. The. Time. So i’m thinking that taking photos of myself might make me think a bit about the clothes I have, what goes with what etc etc

That’s the plan anyway!

Oh and the reason for all this is that my lovely husband (who will be 40 in December 2010) and I will be going to Vegas in October 2010 with 4 other couples eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek and I am very much looking forward to our trip but I do not want to be the “fat lass”. I have lovely dresses and lovely bikinis that I plan on wearing! So I have 9 full months to lose between 14 and 21 pounds. Totally doable right?
